A Level Art and Design

The course encourages an adventurous, creative and imaginative approach to Art and Design. Students are encouraged to develop their visual skills, sustain an investigation and enjoy visiting galleries, museums and workshops. They should be willing to experiment and take risks. Review and refinement of their work is an integral part of the course.

The A Level qualification covers a range of activities and more in-depth assignments. Students have the opportunity to experiment with different media in order to explore their strengths and preferences. Students may choose to work with painting, drawing, print or sculpture; there are a wide range of options for different specialisms with the aim to develop their visual language skills.

 Assessment Details:

·Exam board: EDEXCEL

·There are no tiers of entry. All students take the same practical exam in April

·The Coursework is 60% of the overall mark and the Externally Set Assignment (Examination) is 40%

·Both Coursework and Exam are internally marked and externally moderated.

Our A Level examination results are excellent:

2009 – 100% A*- C Grades

2008 – 100% A*- C grades

2007- 100% A* – C grades

2006 – 100% A* – C grades
